I am a product of the Florida QA system, moving my way up and eventually becoming
RID certified in 1985.  I’ve been working as an interpreter since 1978, starting in the
Dade County school system as an educational interpreter. I have worked in almost all
levels of educational interpreting (I stayed FAR away from Middle school!) but worked in
elementary, high school, Community College and University. As a staff interpreter for a
deaf service center I saw a whole new facet of interpreting.  I later freelanced for a little
more than 20 years, mostly interpreting in the court system before I went to work full time
as a video relay interpreter where I am now (another whole new world of interpreting!)

I served as treasurer of FRID in the late 80’s and early 90’s and was co-chair for the QA
in the South Florida area for many years.  I served on the conference committee in the
early 90’s and was an officer on the now defunct SEFRID, a past FRID affiliate.  I am a
recipient of the FRID Distinguished Service Award.  I now once again serve as your state
treasurer and I am handling registration for this year’s conference.
I live in South Florida with my husband of 27 years and 3 children.
