Rafael Treviño is an independent interpreter and translator and nationally certified by the
Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (NIC Advanced certification). He works between
English, Spanish and American Sign Language. He is currently pursuing studies in
Spanish Translation and Court Interpreting at Florida International University in Miami.
Prior to becoming an interpreter, he worked in the Latin America Accounts Receivable
Department for Citigroup Global Securities in Tampa and, prior to that, as Administrative
Assistant at the Zolfo Springs Police Department.
Raised in Zolfo Springs, Florida, Rafael now lives in Fort Lauderdale. He recently served
as secretary of the Executive Board of the Florida Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf
(FRID) and on the Florida Licensure Task Force as a representative of trilingual
interpreters. He currently chairs FRID’s Diversity Enhancement Committee.
