Lisa Schaefermeyer is serving in the capacity conference committee member and team
leader of Sponsors, Presenters and Silent Auction for the 2008 Florida RID state
Conference. Currently she is the immediate past president and Legislative Action
Committee Chair on the FRID Board of Directors. During her first term as FRID
president she was actively involved in helping to pass legislation to establish a state
Coordinating Council for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (FCCDHH). She now represents
FRID on this Council and has served as a member of the State Licensure Task Force,
the Medical Accessibility Task Force and currently co-chair of the Legal System
Accessibility Task Force with Sharon Caserta. On the national level Lisa is Co-Chair of
the RID Educational Interpreter Committee. The purpose of this committee is to
strengthen the organizational ties among educational interpreters, affiliate chapters and
the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf. Lisa has worked as an educational and
freelance interpreter for the past 24 years in the Tampa Bay area. She graduated from
the University of South Florida with a Social Science Interdisciplinary B.A. degree
emphasis in Sign Language.
