Andrea Smith is currently a full time Instructor in the Interpreter Training Program at the
University of South Florida. Andrea also works part time as a VRS interpreter as well as
community interpreter. Andrea serves as the 2nd Vice President/CMP Coordinator for
FRID. Andrea has been working in the Interpreting field for the past 12 years. She
specializes in interpreting in the mental health and legal settings. Andrea has been
committed to the field of interpreting and has served in a variety of capacities in the past
including a LTA for the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf , member of the FCCDHH’s
Licensure Task Force, BayFRID Vice President and workshop chair. Andrea lives
outside of Tampa in Riverview with her husband and 2 children, Ryan who is 5 and
Kayla (aka French Fry) who is 1 year old.
